India is poised to strengthen its domestic manufacturing capacities in the coming decades and acquire a significant place in the Global value chain. To attract domestic and foreign investments, incentives are being offered to businesses at two-levels simultaneously by the Centre and the State Governments.

The Central Government offers sectors-specific incentives and recently announced Production-Linked Incentives (PLI) Schemes for multiple sectors. The PLI Scheme is targeted to increase investments, employment generation, domestic value addition, capacity building and innovation to make India self-reliant.

State Governments on other hand offer various incentives to new and existing industrial enterprises. Benefits include power cost reimbursement, stamp duty waiver, SGST refund, capital subsidy incentive, etc. The states are competing with one another to achieve higher growth rates and make their state attractive and competitive destination for industrial investments.
