TECHNOLOGY OVERVIEW

Nirtech’s Round Disc RO (RDROTM) systems utilize a unique and innovative approach to water purification. Our technology centres around a series of semipermeable membranes arranged in a circular configuration. The Round Disc RO (RDROTM) system features a vertically mounted module with octagonal membrane cushions made of TFC polyamide and around hydraulic disc made of special grade polymer.

These membranes act as highly efficient filters, selectively allowing water molecules to pass through while effectively rejecting impurities such as:

  • Salts : Removes dissolved salts like sodium, chloride, and magnesium, improving the taste and reducing the mineral content.
  • Heavy Metals : Eliminates harmful heavy metals like lead, arsenic, and mercury.
  • Bacteria & Viruses : Effectively removes harmful microorganisms, ensuring safe and hygienic drinking water.
  • Organic Contaminants : Reduces the presence of pesticides, herbicides, and other organic pollutants.

Nirtech’s Round Disc RO (RDROTM) technology represents a significant advancement in water and wastewater treatment, offering superior performance, reliability, and space efficiency.

ADVANTAGES

Reverse osmosis membrane in round disc configuration instead of spiral wound – tubular type. Works on high pressure of 50 to 120 bar, high recovery & low rejects. 2 – 3 stage RDRO systems for high recovery of 90 to 95% based on feed TDS, reducing the raw water consumption

● Enhanced Efficiency : The circular disc arrangement of membranes optimizes water flow and maximizes the surface area for filtration, leading to higher water recovery rates and improved efficiency. Can handle high cod & bod levels over conventional Spiral Reverse Osmosis plant

● Compact Design : The circular disc configuration allows for a more compact and space-saving design compared to traditional linear RO systems, making them suitable for various installations. Complete system SKID mounted, Modules are easy to clean and maintain.

● Reduced Fouling : The unique design minimizes the risk of membrane fouling, a common issue in RO systems that can reduce performance. Enables to handle variations in feed conditions. Silt Density Index (SDI) feed limiting condition for RDRO is 20 vs spiral RO is 3.

● Improved Durability : The circular disc arrangement enhances the structural integrity of the system, leading to increased durability and a longer lifespan.

Round Disc RO (RDRO) – FAQ

Spiral RO employs spiral-wound membranes, while Round Disc RO (RDRO) uses flat, disc-shaped membranes. This fundamental difference in design leads to distinct advantages in certain applications.

Round Disc RO (RDRO) often excels in handling high-solids, high OCD, high SDI content waste water, offers higher flux rates, and generally requires less maintenance compared to Spiral RO.

The unique design of Round Disc RO (RDRO) membranes allows for efficient filtration of effluent with high levels of COD, TDS, SDI, minimizing the risk of membrane fouling

The open channel design of Round Disc RO (RDRO) membranes minimizes the accumulation of contaminants, reducing the frequency of cleaning and maintenance procedures.

Recovery rates can vary depending on the specific application and wastewater quality. However, Round Disc RO (RDRO) systems often achieve high recovery rates up to 92%-97%, maximizing water utilization.

Round Disc RO (RDRO) often demonstrates better adaptability to variations in feed effluent quality, such as changes in COD and TDS levels.

Round Disc RO (RDRO) typically exhibits a higher tolerance for suspended solids, it can handle SID 20 in the feed wastewater, reducing the need for extensive pre-treatment steps or additional Ultrafiltration system.

Cleaning procedures for Round Disc RO (RDRO) systems are simpler and less frequent due to the reduced fouling potential and easier access to the membrane surfaces.

The modular design allows for easier access to individual DISC membranes for inspection, cleaning, and replacement, minimizing downtime and simplifying maintenance procedures.

The compact design of Round Disc RO (RDRO) systems and vertical stacking often requires less floor space compared to traditional Spiral RO systems, making them suitable for installations with limited space availability.
